I noticed that when I use this product after my usual BHA (Beta Hydroxy Acid) exfoliant, it becomes completely ineffective. Because the chemical exfoliant already cleans deep inside the pores and dissolves dead skin cells, this manual friction gel finds nothing left to grab onto. It is a decent, gentle physical exfoliant that does the job, but if you already use a chemical exfoliant like BHA, you can safely skip this social media trend.

I still had some of the original Dr. M. and did a half and half comparison and it was immediately clear. This exfoliate "pills" like the original but not nearly to the degree and when washed away the half I used the leftover Dr. M. was clean of dead skin and showed clear pores. The other half? Not so much. I'll be going back to the original.
